Overview—
I led the 0-to-1 design of OnTrack’s first event management web app, enabling teams to plan and oversee large events by unifying staffing, vendors, tasks and financials across venues. The tablet-optimized application helped attract investment in the company and fuel its expansion.

The challenge
Need-to-know vs Nice-to-know
OnTrack came to the table with boatloads of event data. My challenge was to turn that volume into clear, actionable information. I established an intuitive hierarchy that helped users spot what mattered, understand why it needed attention, and decide what to do next.

A modified event timeline proved an effective way to provide a broad view of simultaneous event schedules, while also pinpointing exactly when and where issues had occurred.

I designed the Event detail view as the team’s primary workspace, bringing schedules, attendance, staffing, and operational issues into one place. The tabbed navigation keeps workspace relevant and uncluttered, while ensuring schedules, attendance, staffing, and other details are always one click away.
